The higher the screen resolution, the better the display effect is a mistake
2021.09.15
Most people believe that, to some extent, higher resolution is always better on a smartphone screen. It's not, because the human eye's maximum pixel density is no more than 300 ppi (pixels per inch), and beyond that it doesn't make much difference to the human eye. Earlier this year, LG launched its first QuadHD smartphone, the LG G3, with a resolution of 2,560 × 1,440 pixels and a PPI of a whopping 535 pixels, which is much higher than any previous smartphone with a resolution of 1,920 × 1,080 pixels.
But can our eyes really tell the difference between the LG G3 and the Galaxy S5? The G3's screen ppi is much higher than the Galaxy S5 431's. In practice, however, there is almost no difference in sharpness between the G3 and the Galaxy S5, which is why companies like Apple care more about brightness than resolution.
